I adore Tim Burton, I love how he is able to take
eccentric, outcast characters and make them endearing his special weird sort of
way. One of my favorite characters was
Weird Girl from Frankenweenie, so I decided to create Weird Christmas Girl.
Weird Christmas Girl loves Christmas and is
especially mesmerized by Christmas lights, she can spend hours just staring at
them, sometimes she crosses her eyes when she looks at them so all the colors
mix together like a magical kaleidoscope.
Weird Christmas Girl is paperclay sculpted over a
wood and wire armature. She is about 13” tall and 10” wide and is fashioned to
sit, her arms and legs are wired and can be repositioned. If you have ever seen a Tim Burton production
you know that his characters speak to you before they ever open their mouths,
this is done through his magic of design, makeup and costuming. I tried to weave a little of that magic with
Weird Christmas Girl’s expression and costuming. She is painted with artist acrylics and
festively dressed in a variety of fabrics and trims. I made her a little wooden block covered in
Christmas colored paper on which to perch and she holds a colorful string of
her enchanting Christmas lights. She is available in my Etsy Shop Primville
